OUR
INNOVATION
The Innovator Academy is a programme that runs across the partnership, drawing on the expertise and talent within our schools, developing new partnerships and foster collaboration. Its purpose is to create innovative practice that provides children with an outstanding education and has a significant influence locally and nationally.
MORE INFO
Innovator Academy
Children joining primary school now will leave education around 2040; if they attend higher education this could mean they enter the world of employment even later. There is every likelihood that a good proportion of the careers that these children will enter may not yet exist.
As more of life moves online and technology becomes an increasingly ubiquitous factor in solving many problems, it is important that pupils’ educational journey embraces innovation and gives them the skills and understanding to be able to adapt to a rapidly evolving landscape.
Furthermore, our understanding of how children learn and how best we can support them also continues to evolve. As we move away from didactic teaching and have a greater awareness of how metacognitive approaches can have an impact, teaching practices and curriculum design must also be at the front of innovation.
Aims of the Innovator Academy
Pupils and Families First
The Innovator Academy develops outstanding pedagogical practice, through research and innovation. It supports schools to realise their pupils’ full potential by developing the skills, knowledge and expertise of existing staff and those new to the profession, and fosters a self-improvement mindset.
Skills and Learning for Life
The Innovator Academy adopts a ‘ready for life’ approach by encouraging innovative projects that focus on developing pupils’ potential to be successful in a future world. By engaging with partners, the Academy draws on the best talent to improve its understanding of how pupils can be ‘ready for life’.
Significant Influence
The Innovator Academy is at the centre of the creation and dissemination of knowledge about ‘what works’ in schools.’ The Innovator Academy supports the partnership to have a strong local and national presence, giving it significant influence to make a difference.
Sustainability
The Innovator Academy strives to adopt a sustainable approach in the broadest possible terms. Schools should be able to sustain the practices developed by the Academy, to allow them to be embedded for greatest impact. The Innovator Academy works towards sustainable operation by reducing its environmental impact and encouraging a ‘net neutral’ approach through its work within and beyond the Partnership.
